Dossert was founded in 1904 in the city of New York.

Securing the first patents for the solderless connector eliminated, entirely, the use of solder in making electrical connections and splices. The Board of Fire Underwriters granted approval.

The evolution of Dossert connectors kept pace with the progress in methods of both the generation and distribution of electricity. Dossert products were designed for use by the Utility, Transportation, OEM and Electrical Distributor markets.

The present management purchased Dossert in 1946, integrating it with their own facility and adding three nearby locations. In 1973, the company relocated to one facility in Waterbury, Connecticut. The present factory consists of a modem non-ferrous foundry, a complete machining facility, test lab and warehouse.

In general terms, the product line consists of both copper and aluminum connectors for sub-stations, switch yards, transmission lines, grounding systems, underground systems, industrial applications and electrified rail systems. Since 1980, Dossert has expanded its transportation business into the 'Light Rail' area by providing overhead catenary systems and components to some of the major rail companies in the United States.
